Functional coatings are difficult to define since it can be argued that all coatings are “Functional”. We categorize products as functional, when they do something which is unusual, compared to coatings which are widely available. Quite often, Functional products perform more than one function, for example they can be decorative as well as hydrophobic, self-cleaning as well as colorful, anti-corrosive as well as anti-microbial.
